In my Dreams!
Posted by concernedchristian on July 23, 2008
I had a very odd dream last night.
As some of you know, I work at a Wal-Mart Photo Center. One of the things we do is printing passport pictures for people. So, in my dream, I was walking into the Photo Center, and two of the associates there were taking a passport photo. Of John MacArthur.
Yes, that John MacArthur:
I had to contain my giddiness. One of the most gifted pastors, authors, or teachers of our day is in my Wal-Mart? In my photo center? Getting a set of passport photos taken? Duuuuude!
No, I did not notice the incongruence of him going to a Wal-Mart 3000 miles from his home in southern California. He might just be passing through (even though the nearest major airports are 45 minutes away), or he might be visiting NRB headquarters, which also is here in Manassas.
I was beside myself, until I noticed something.
Dr. MacArthur is very irritable. And impatient.
I’ve never met the man, but from what I understand he is in real life the exact opposite; very patient and very kind. But nevertheless, in my dreams he is one of the most impatient customers I’ve ever had.
With good reason, too. It would appear our machines are malfunctioning again; first the camera, then the kiosk we use to make the passport pictures, etc.
Finally I think I have it working, and I have a plan. My idea is to draw Dr. MacArthur (or “Johnny Mac,” as Todd Friel likes to call him) away from the other associates long enough to say at least, “Dr. MacArthur sir, I have several of your books and frequently listen to your radio show. Your ministry has encouraged me, and thank you for the work that you do.” My hope is that my words would suitably rebuke him for his lack of patience and gentleness. If I do it away from my co-workers, they won’t know he’s a big-name pastor, and thusly the name of Christ won’t get drawn through the mud.
That’s my plan, anyway.
But I wake up before I get a chance to do so.
Drat!

I think he might be irritated, in your dream, because you might be seeing how much he has to defend for the truth of scripture and stand for the gospel in a veracious manner. And it’s somehow appearing in your dreams?
